智通财经APP获悉，Snap(SNAP.US)将在澳大利亚开始对众多用户进行年龄核查，因为该公司正准备于下月实施一项全球首创的针对 16 岁以下人群的社交媒体使用限制措施。该公司表示，Snapchat 所有用户将能够通过与澳大利亚银行账户的关联、出示政府颁发的身份证件或者通过自拍来进行面部年龄检测来验证自己的年龄。
该法律旨在保护儿童免受网络欺凌及其他社交媒体中的有害内容影响，从 12 月 10 日起，16 岁以下的儿童将不得拥有账号或开设新账号。Facebook和 Instagram 母公司Meta(META.US)上周表示，从 12 月 4 日起将开始删除未成年账号。
澳大利亚联邦议会众议院此前通过一项法案，禁止 16 岁以下未成年人使用社交媒体，若社媒平台不遵守该规定，最高可罚款 4950 万澳元，澳大利亚也将成为全球对未成年人使用社交媒体立法最严的国家之一。
Snap 表示，不认同澳大利亚政府将其归类为被禁止的社交媒体平台的这一决定，但同时表示会遵守新的法规。Snap 鼓励未成年用户尽快下载保存自己的数据。
