What to Watch in the Day Ahead - Wednesday, November 26

On the U.S. economic calendar, the Commerce Department is expected to report that durable goods orders for September rose 0.3%, following a 2.9% increase in August. Durables excluding transportation are forecast to show a 0.2% gain for September, compared to a 0.3% rise in the prior month. Additionally, non-defense capital goods excluding aircraft for September are expected to increase 0.2%, after posting a 0.4% gain in August. Meanwhile, the Labor Department will release the weekly jobless claims report. Initial claims for unemployment benefits probably rose to 225,000 for the latest week from 220,000 in the prior week. Continued jobless claims are expected to edge down to 1.969 million from 1.974 million. Separately, the Federal Reserve issues the Beige Book.

Deere is expected to report a lower profit when it reports fourth-quarter results.

On the Latin American front, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics is expected to report that the IPCA-15 mid-month consumer price index for November rose 0.18%, unchanged from October's reading. On an annual basis, the IPCA-15 mid-month CPI for November is forecast to show a reading of 4.49%, compared to 4.94% in the prior month. Additionally, Argentina's statistics agency will release retail sales data for September.
