Specialty chemicals manufacturer Unison Metals (BOM:538610) has formed a new specialty chemicals division focused on the production of sodium silicate through the establishment of a new unit at Ahmedabad in Gujarat, India, according to a BSE filing on Friday.

Sodium silicate is a key raw material for industrial applications such as detergents, the paper industry, the food industry, pharmaceuticals, and the rubber industry, among others.

The new unit is expected to enhance the production of specialty chemicals by at least 100% year-on-year, which is expected to lead to a 35% rise in turnover with a 25% increase in profit after tax.
