Aegon (AEG) is evaluating divestments of operations outside the US as it looks to concentrate on the US market, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Aegon UK, which administers retirement accounts, is among the businesses under review, the report said. The insurer is also considering a sale of its 51% stake in a joint venture with Banco Santander that distributes insurance products in Spain and Portugal, according to the report.

Aegon and Banco Santander did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment on the matter.

Shares of Aegon were up 2.7% in recent Wednesday trading.
