LG Uplus, KB Kookmin Bank Team Up to Block Voice Phishing in Real Time

LG Uplus (KRX:032640) and KB Financial Group (KRX:105560) subsidiary KB Kookmin Bank signed an agreement to jointly prevent voice phishing by using the AI-powered call app ixi-O, the South Korean mobile network operator said in a Thursday release.

Under the partnership, LG U+ will share real-time phishing alerts generated through the app - including suspicious call patterns, malicious app installs, and risky URL access - with KB Kookmin Bank. The bank will integrate the data with its financial monitoring system to immediately flag and protect at-risk customers, including by suspending account payments when necessary.

The collaboration also includes potential coordination with the National Police Agency to counter emerging fraud tactics.
