1031 ET - Kohl's CEO Michael Bender says he is excited about the momentum and opportunity the retailer has heading into the all-important holiday season. At the same time, he expects a heavy promotional landscape. "The holidays are always a promotional time period, and we expect this to continue this year, especially given the state of the consumer," he says on a call with analysts. Kohl's is leaning further into deal-seeking behavior with expanded coupon eligibility and a renewed push behind its rewards program. The company is also entering the quarter with healthier inventory levels across key gifting categories, including apparel, home goods and toys, Bender says. Increased marketing efforts should help drive engagement throughout the season, he adds. Kohl's jumps 32%. (connor.hart@wsj.com)
