Telefonica Wins Provisional Broadcasting Rights for Spain's La Liga

Telefonica (TEF) said Friday it has provisionally been awarded exclusive broadcasting rights for five matches a matchday for Spain's soccer league La Liga for pay TV in the country's residential market.
The award is worth about 2.64 billion euros ($3.06 billion), or an average price of around 527.2 million euros per season, the company said, adding it will have the first pick in 19 matchdays of each season.
The award is subject to the signing of an agreement between Telefonica and La Liga, with the rest of the terms and requirements to be set up in a La Liga tender, the company said.
