US Energy Dept to provide up to $800 million to support two small modular reactor projects

Dec 2 (Reuters) - The U.S. Department of Energy said on Tuesday that it has picked the Tennessee Valley Authority and Holtec Government Services to support early deployments of advanced light-water small modular nuclear reactors in the United States.

The project teams will receive up to $800 million in federal cost-shared funding to advance initial projects in Tennessee and Michigan, the Energy Department said in a statement.
