Solidity 工程师 Artem Chystiakov 周一在以太坊社区论坛的一篇帖子中重新提及了这项研究，并提到他今年 1 月在 arXiv 上首次发表的相关工作。该设想旨在在以太坊上重现匿名礼物交换游戏，参与者随机配对，且无人知晓谁在给谁送礼物。然而，在透明的区块链上实现这一点，需要解决围绕随机性、隐私和女巫攻击抵抗性的几个长期存在的问题。
Chystiakov 表示，核心问题很简单：“以太坊上的一切对所有人都是可见的”，区块链无法提供真正的随机性，而且系统必须防止用户多次注册或给自己分配礼物。该提议的协议使用零知识证明来验证发送者与接收者的关系，同时不泄露身份信息，还使用交易中继器来提交操作，这样单个钱包就无法与具体行动关联起来。这种类型的零知识层可应用于匿名投票、DAO 治理、举报渠道，以及避免泄露接收者信息的私人空投或代币分发。
