Energy stocks advanced past 1% at midday Tuesday, with Brent crude futures climbing over 1% to settle at $63.17 per barrel. On Wall Street, the Nasdaq Composite index was down 0.4%, the S&P 500 declined 0.5%, and the Dow Jones fell nearly 1%.
NexGen Energy (ASX:NXG) said drilling at its Patterson Corridor East deposit, part of its Rook I project in Saskatchewan, Canada, returned the highest-grade assay to date at the area. The assays returned 5.5 meters at over 21% grade of triuranium octoxide between 590 meters and 595.5 meters of depth.
On the flip side, the information technology sector fell past 1%.
AI-Media Technologies (ASX:AIM) said the S&P Dow Jones Indices confirmed the firm's Global Industry Classification Standard will be updated to "Application Software" within the Information Technology sector, effective Monday.
