Precipio said it recently identified unauthorized access to a data folder in its secure cloud file environment.

The hematopathology diagnostic products company said Thursday the unauthorized access, which it said was single and limited in scope, was confined to a storage server and didn't affect patient care, operations, or finances, with services continuing unhindered.

Upon detection, Precipio said it immediately engaged a cybersecurity law firm and forensic specialists, securing the system and resetting company passwords.

An investigation into the incident suggests an unauthorized party accessed and downloaded historical customer service files, including operational procedures and vendor invoices, the company said.

No patient Social Security numbers, addresses, proprietary company data or financial information was compromised, and the company expects insurance will cover investigation costs.
