12月7日，京东集团副总裁段楠表示，当下大模型的发展，投入资源如此之大，已经不是一个纯粹的算法或模型上面的事，而是一个系统的事，涉及到人、数据、场景、算法，以及其应该如何落地和赚钱。一个大模型，最后要能够至少满足相当一部分人非常迫切、重要的需要，才算成功。
因此，“以终为始”非常之关键，当下整个基础模型的发展就两步，第一步是把全人类的知识融入到这个基础模型里获得通用能力，第二步是要针对选定的领域“以终为始”反向更新算法、模型结构、数据带，最终形成适配，而且第一步和第二步之间的界限在不断地往前移，因为大模型是数据驱动，越早地把相关的数据融入到预训练数据里面去，模型的上限就越高。
此外，基础模型发展到今天，它的一个范式上的优势是，无论方向如何，底层一定是建立在人类通用知识基础之上。
