SouthGobi Resources (HKG:1878) said an Ontario court has approved its previously disclosed CA$6.8 million settlement of a long-running class action related to restated financial statements, according to a Monday Hong Kong bourse filing.

Shares of the coal mining and exploration firm were down nearly 2% in Tuesday morning trade.

The Superior Court of Justice of Ontario delivered the decision on Dec. 3.

The settlement, reached through mediation in August and formalised in a written agreement on Oct. 2, covers all liability, legal fees, and notice and administrative costs.

Payment has been made by the company's insurers to counsel for the class plaintiffs, the filing said.

A 30-day appeal period is now in effect until Jan. 2, 2026. The settlement will become final if no appeal is filed within that period.
