Energy stocks were advancing pre-bell Monday, with the State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE) up 0.2%.
The United States Oil Fund (USO) was down 0.6% and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) was 1.4% lower.
Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil was down 0.6% at $57.07 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange. Global benchmark North Sea Brent crude oil lost 0.5% to $60.80 per barrel. Natural gas futures were 0.4% lower at $4.096 per 1 million British Thermal Units.
Shell's (SHEL) consolidated financial statements for the financial year ended Dec. 31, 2024 that were audited by Ernst & Young are under a UK regulatory investigation, the Financial Reporting Council said. Shell shares were 0.6% higher premarket.
