Lululemon Needs to Return to Its Roots -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
Yesterday

1320 GMT - Lululemon needs to shift its focus from international markets to its roots in the Americas, analysts at Jefferies write. "A refreshed board, a thoughtful CEO with real leadership, and a return to Lululemon's roots are critical," the analysts say. The athletic apparel retailer should look to restore its brand DNA by reducing a newness for newness' sake approach, the analysts write. Avoiding excessive newness will also help inventory management, they add, while the company should also pause its expansion into larger shops. The Wall Street Journal reported that activist Elliott Investment Management had built a $1 billion stake in the retailer and was working with Jane Nielsen as a CEO successor. Shares gain 14.88 cents, or 7.3%, premarket.(josephmichael.stonor@wsj.com)
