该稳定币由 SoFi Bank 发行。SoFi Bank 是一家获得美国国家银行牌照、并由 FDIC 承保的金融机构，这使其成为首家向外界开放稳定币基础设施的美国国家级银行。SoFiUSD 目前将仅用于内部使用，预计将在未来几个月内向更广泛的 SoFi 用户开放。
不同于由加密原生公司发行的稳定币，SoFiUSD 以 1:1 的比例完全由存放在美联储的现金支持，这意味着用户可以立即赎回，无需承担信用或流动性风险。该稳定币部署在公有区块链上，使资金能够以近乎即时、低成本、7×24 小时的方式流转。
