这艘被命名为FF（X）的舰艇将由位于弗吉尼亚州纽波特纽斯的HII建造。该造船公司的传奇级巡逻舰将作为新舰的基础。海军作战部长Daryl Caudle上将在X发帖称，海军现有的小型水面作战舰艇舰队规模仅为海军所需规模的三分之一。
