09:50 ET - There were an estimated 37.2% more home sellers than buyers in the U.S. housing market in November, Redfin says. That's 529,770 more in numerical terms. When sellers outnumber buyers, buyers typically hold the negotiating power because they have a lot of options to choose from. But that's only in a buyer's market for those who can afford to buy. Currently, many Americans have been priced out of the housing market as affordability has eroded. The number of home buyers in the U.S. housing market dropped 2.5% month over month in November. The number of sellers in the market fell 1.4% month over month to 1.95 million. Buyers are backing off due to high housing costs and economic uncertainty. Sellers, many of whom are buyers themselves, are backing off in response to lackluster demand for their homes. (chris.wack@wsj.com)
