根据圣路易斯联邦储备银行的一项新分析，衡量移民人口下降的政府数据被夸大了，可能是因为愿意参与调查的移民数量下降。
圣路易斯联储研究人员基于就业数据估算，今年截至11月，美国移民人口减少12.3万，至62.7万。这远低于当前人口调查（CPS）统计的186万人的降幅。CPS的调查结果还意味着，本土出生人口增加380万，研究人员认为这一增幅“大得不合常理”。
圣路易斯联储研究人员Alexander Bick和Kevin Bloodworth II在周一发布的博客文章中写道：“这表明CPS数据出现大规模净移民负增长的主要原因在于仍留在美国的非入籍移民参与调查的意愿下降，他们可能对参与政府数据收集持谨慎态度。”
从2025年1月至11月，CPS调查的回复率在数个群体中显著下降。而分析指出，非入籍移民的参与度降幅比本土出生劳动力和已入籍公民高出约10个百分点。
