0825 ET - U.S. natural gas futures are higher in early trade despite a loss of heating demand in weekend weather forecasts. The EIA scheduled to report inventories for the week of Dec. 19 at 12 p.m. ET. The report was delayed by the extended federal government holiday. The average estimate in a Wall Street Journal survey of analysts is for an above-average 169 Bcf withdrawal, which would turn the storage surplus over the five year average into a small deficit. The Nymex January contract is up 2.4% at $4.470/mmBtu ahead of today's expiration. Gas for February delivery is up 0.8% at $3.909/mmBtu. (anthony.harrup@wsj.com)
