2026年1月1日，SpaceX星链工程副总裁迈克尔·尼科尔斯正式宣布，星链计划于年内启动全球卫星星座轨道调整，将所有运行于550公里轨道的卫星统一降至480公里高度。
数据显示，当前星链在轨卫星已超9300颗，2026年3月将突破1万颗，如此庞大的星座规模对轨道安全提出极高要求。调整后，卫星轨道高度降低70公里，不仅使卫星处于太空碎片更稀少的空域——NASA数据显示500公里以下低轨碎片数量较550公里区域减少60%以上，更能借助更强的大气阻力，让故障卫星快速再入大气层烧毁。此前星链一颗418公里高度故障卫星仅用几周便完成烧毁，印证了低轨对碎片清除的优势。
降轨背后是低轨太空竞争加剧的行业现实。当前全球超20家企业推进低轨星座计划，OneWeb、亚马逊Kuiper等均在加速部署，星网、千帆星座等项目也已整装待发，低轨空域资源愈发紧张。
