Capstone Copper Says Union Representing Half of Chile Mine Workforce to Conduct Strike; Shares Fall 4%

Capstone Copper (ASX:CSC) said that one of the four unions at the Mantoverde mine in Chile, representing around 50% of the mine's employees or 22% of the total workforce, will conduct a strike action effective Friday, according to a same-day Australian bourse filing.

During the strike, the firm expects to continue operations at the mine at a level of up to 30% of normal production. It added that it "remains willing" to participate in meetings to reach a resolution.

The total workforce at the mine is around 2,940 individuals, including around 1,670 contractors.

Capstone Copper's shares fell nearly 4% in recent trading on Friday.
