赖特本周将出席在迈阿密举行的高盛能源、清洁技术与公用事业大会，雪佛龙、康菲石油等公司的高管预计将参会。雪佛龙是目前唯一仍在委内瑞拉运营的美国石油巨头。
美国总统唐纳德·特朗普已誓言要振兴委内瑞拉的石油产业。由于多年投资不足和管理失当，这个坐拥全球最大原油储量的国家产量大幅下滑。特朗普估计，重建该行业将需要数十亿美元资金，但尚不清楚外国公司是否愿意承担这项任务及其固有的风险。
美国国务卿马尔科·卢比奥在接受哥伦比亚广播公司（CBS）采访时表示，企业在委内瑞拉投资需要具备“某些保障和条件”。
