Nippon Television's (TYO:9404) Nippon Television Network said NBC Sports will use its on-device artificial intelligence system viztrick AiDi for live sports coverage from 2026, marking the first overseas deployment of the technology.
AiDi enables real-time player tracking, face tagging, object recognition, and automatic vertical 9:16 video cropping for mobile viewing, all without an internet connection. The system is designed to minimize latency during live broadcasts and can switch between AI and manual operation as needed.
The technology was developed in-house by Nippon TV and will be sold and delivered in North America by FOR-A America. Nippon TV said the system was customized based on feedback from broadcasters, including NBC Sports.
Nippon TV said it aims to expand AiDi beyond broadcasting into other fields, while using the NBC Sports deployment as a foothold for further growth overseas.
