Woolworths Group (ASX:WOW) is set to collaborate with Sea Forest, DIT AgTech, and Teys Australia to conduct a commercial-scale trial of Sea Forest's SeaFeed supplement, derived from the seaweed Asparagopsis, at a cattle farm in New South Wales, according to a Thursday statement.
The trial will test both water-delivered and dry-lick formulations of the supplement, with the water-delivered formulation administered via DIT AgTech's uDOSE dosing technology. DIT AgTech and Sea Forest will manage dosing technology and supplement supply. Teys Australia is the processing partner.
The trial will test whether the supplement can deliver productivity gains for grass-fed producers, such as improved weight gain and feed efficiency, as well as reductions in livestock methane emissions. The results will be independently verified against globally recognized standards.
