Cathay General Bancorp Names Wang CFO

Cathay General Bancorp, the holding company for Cathay Bank, named Albert Wang chief financial officer and treasurer, effective March 1.

Wang, 50, succeeds Heng Chen who will retire from his role as financial chief and treasurer after 23 years with the company. Chen will remain as a special adviser to the office of the president for Cathay Bank through Dec. 31.

Wang currently serves as deputy chief financial officer, and was previously chief accounting officer at Webster Bank from 2017 to 2025. Before that, Wang held financial leadership roles at Banc of California and Santander Bank.

In his new role, Wang is expected to receive a base salary of $500,000 and will have opportunities to receive cash and equity bonuses consistent with his predecessor, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission Filing.

Chen will receive a monthly compensation of $15,000 through Dec. 31 in connection to his special adviser role, according to the filing.
