GFL Environmental has shifted its headquarters from Ontario to Florida in a bid to broaden its investor base.

The waste-management and environmental-services company said Wednesday that it has relocated its executive headquarters from Vaughan, Ontario, to Miami Beach, Florida.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer Patrick Dovigi said the move will expand the company's eligibility for major American equity indexes while maintaining its Canadian index status, boosting visibility and helping attract a broader global investor base.

Dovigi noted that the U.S. represents over two-thirds of GFL's revenue, more than half of which is generated in the Southeastern region.

"The relocation aligns with our expanding presence in this attractive market and is expected to improve our ability to attract highly skilled talent from the U.S. labor pool," Dovigi added.

The company's jurisdiction of incorporation will remain in Ontario.
