马斯克周四在世界经济论坛上与贝莱德CEO拉里·芬克的交谈中表示，衰老是一个“完全可以解决的问题”。
马斯克说：“当我们弄清楚衰老的成因时，我认为我们会发现这其实非常显而易见。这并非什么隐晦的事情。我之所以说这并非隐晦的事情，是因为你身体里的所有细胞，你知道的，几乎都以相同的速度衰老。我这辈子都没见过有人左臂变老而右臂依然年轻的情况，所以这是为什么呢？肯定是在你身体里的 35 万亿个细胞之间存在着一个同步的时钟。”
但马斯克认为，寿命延长也会带来一些负面影响。
“你知道吗，死亡其实也有其积极的一面。我们之所以无法拥有更长的寿命，是有一定原因的，因为如果人们的寿命真的很长，我认为可能会导致社会的僵化，会让一切陷入停滞状态。”他说道，“社会可能会变得毫无生气，变得死气沉沉。但话说回来，我认为我们肯定会找到延长寿命的方法，甚至有可能逆转衰老过程。我觉得这是很有可能的。”
