Oracle (ORCL) said Friday it expects the Project Jupiter artificial intelligence data center campus in New Mexico to create as many as 1,500 permanent jobs, doubling its previous forecast.
The site in Dona Ana County will also generate approximately 4,000 construction jobs and is expected to produce an estimated $113 million in direct annual economic output once operational, the company said.
The company said it will occupy the campus to deploy infrastructure for OpenAI and anticipates the project will support the local economy by approximately $384 million each year during the construction phase.
Investments include $360 million in direct payments to the county for schools and infrastructure, plus $50 million specifically to modernize and repair local water systems, the company added.
Shares of the company were up about 4% in recent trading.
