Powell Could Shed Light on FOMC's Preconditions for Further Rate Cuts -- Market Talk

0628 GMT - Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell's press conference could shed light on his last two remaining FOMC meetings as Chair and what the committee would need to see to consider cutting before his term ends, Aptus Capital Advisors' John Luke Tyner says in a note. The market currently expects the next Fed rate cut in July, according to LSEG. While the Treasury market is unlikely to move substantially following the Fed meeting, "we could certainly see volatility remain elevated based on the direction of the press conference and language from Powell," he says.
