FedEx (FDX) said Tuesday it has appointed Scott Ray as chief operating officer for US and Canada surface operations, effective June 1.
As the newest member of the FedEx Executive Committee, Ray will succeed John Smith, who will become FedEx Freight's chief executive, the company said.
Ray, who will transition to the COO-elect role on Feb. 1, has been the president of surface operations since 2024, FedEx said, adding that the company has no plans to appoint a new president of surface operations.
