Visa Talks to Lawmakers Following Trump's CCCA Endorsement -- Market Talk

1828 ET [Dow Jones]--Visa Chief Executive Ryan McInerney says he is in active conversations with lawmakers about the Credit Card Competition Act, which President Trump endorsed via social media earlier this month. The bill threatens to limit Visa's sway on credit-card swipe fees, which are a substantial contributor to its profit. "We view it as our job to educate elected representatives on the impacts that the various policies that are being floated around could have," McInerney tells analysts, adding that the CCCA is "very harmful and it's just simply not needed." He believes the policy would result in reduced access to credit and fewer credit-card rewards. (katherine.hamilton@wsj.com)
