ASX Midday Sector Update: Energy Stocks Inch Up, Materials Stocks Struggle

Shares of energy firms advanced 0.1% at midday Thursday, the only sector trading in the green on the Australian Stock Exchange.

Shares of Deep Yellow (ASX:DYL) rose 9% in recent trade.

On the flip side, the materials sector fell 2%.

Brazilian Rare Earths (ASX:BRE) said, subject to receipt of approvals and financing, it expects to target first production at the company's Amargosa bauxite-gallium project in Brazil in 2029.
