1234 ET - Data center developers are turning to Caterpillar's generators as their primary source of electricity. Caterpillar's power and energy business is now the mining and construction equipment maker's largest business unit. The company says it's received orders this week for generators to supply two gigawatts of power for American Intelligence & Power's Monarch Compute Campus in West Virginia. The order for more than 1,000 piston-driven generators is the largest ever for Caterpillar. Deliveries are expected to start late this year and continue through 2027. The power demand at the Monarch site could reach as much as 8 gigawatts, or 8,000 megawatts, the company says. Shares rise 4%. (robert.tita@wsj.com)
