CK Hutchison May Have Better Chance of Closing Ports Deal if Panama Ones Are Excluded -- Market Talk

0327 GMT - CK Hutchison may have a better chance of concluding the sale of its ports to a BlackRock-led group if the Panama ports are excluded, Citi analysts say in a research note. Panama only represents two of the 43 ports in the proposed transaction, so the inclusion or exclusion of these two has very limited impact financially, the analysts say. A recent court ruling annulled CK Hutchinson's contract to operate ports at the Panama Canal. The Hong Kong conglomerate should have a better chance of closing the sale if it chooses to continue negotiating the sale of the remaining 41 ports, they say. Citi raises its target price on CK Hutchinson to HK$78.00 from HK$61.00 and maintains a buy rating. Shares are 1.4% higher at HK$64.90. (tracy.qu@wsj.com)
