受用于稳定外汇市场的影响，韩国外汇储备上月出现连续第二个月下滑。
韩国央行2月4日宣布，截至1月末，韩国外汇储备规模为4259.1亿美元，较前一月减少21.5亿美元。这是自去年12月末（减少26亿美元）以来，外汇储备连续第二个月下降。
去年5月末，韩国外汇储备曾降至约五年来最低水平（4046亿美元），随后至11月实现连续六个月增长，11月末储备规模达4306.6亿美元，但12月再度出现下滑。市场分析认为，外汇储备减少的原因是，去年11月以来韩元汇率大幅下跌，韩国央行为管理汇率波动采取了相关措施。对于上月外汇储备的减少，韩国央行一名官员解释称：“主要是由于国民年金公团相关操作及外汇互换等市场稳定措施导致。”
从资产构成来看，国债、企业债等证券类资产规模为3775.2亿美元，增加63.9亿美元；存款类资产规模为233.2亿美元，减少85.5亿美元；国际货币基金组织（IMF）特别提款权（SDR）规模为158.9亿美元，与前一月持平；黄金储备规模维持在47.9亿美元，与前一月一致——这是因为黄金储备未按市场现价核算，而是以购入时的价格计价。
截至去年12月末，韩国外汇储备规模为4281亿美元，位居全球第九位，该排名已连续三个月保持不变。
