Shell CEO Might Face Greater Scrutiny as Momentum Stalls -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
Feb 05

1307 GMT - Shell issued a pretty ugly set of numbers which could see its CEO come under scrutiny as momentum stalls, AJ Bell's Dan Coatsworth writes. The market liked Wael Sawan's pivot away from green energy assets but he needs to show the company can deliver in a challenging environment, the analyst says. Investors might be concerned by Shell's rising operating costs, Coatsworth adds. Shareholders also know that its quarterly buyback is unsustainable without an improvement in the financial performance, he says. Shares trade down 1.2% at 2,833.5 pence. (adam.whittaker@wsj.com)
