Vale (VALE) said late Thursday it has identified three new legal proceedings tied to overflows recorded last month at its Fabrica and Viga operational units in Ouro Preto and Congonhas.
The developments follow a preliminary injunction for protective relief filed by the Federal Prosecutor's Office last week.
The company said the actions were filed by the Brazilian Federal Prosecutor's Office, the State of Minas Gerais and the State Prosecutor's Office of Minas Gerais, seeking preliminary injunctions that include asset freezes, totaling more than 2 billion reais ($378.1 million).
The overflows are not related to any of its dams in the region, which remain safe and under continuous monitoring, the company added.
Vale said it is cooperating with authorities, will submit formal responses within required deadlines, and has begun sediment removal and recovery planning as investigations continue.
