1345 ET - Marriott International says it is working with Google and OpenAI as the hotel industry prepares for consumers to book trips using artificial intelligence. The hotel conglomerate is working with Google on its forthcoming Google AI-mode travel product and with OpenAI on its Ad Pilot program, Chief Executive Anthony Capuano tells analysts. Hotel brands have increasingly flirted with the idea of partnering with AI models as a new form of consumer search, booking and discovery, Melius research analysts Conor Cunningham and Patrick Coleman say. "The idea again is about being in channels consumers are searching for travel, while also increasing direct share," they say. (katherine.hamilton@wsj.com)
