BYD (SHE:002594, HKG:1211) filed a lawsuit with the U.S. Court of International Trade late last month challenging President Donald Trump's auto tariffs, Reuters reported Monday, citing court documents.
According to the lawsuit, the law that was used to authorize border taxes, the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, did not employ the word "tariff" or any term of equivalent meaning, the report said.
BYD, which sells buses and commercial vehicles in the U.S. through its subsidiaries, is seeking a refund for all levies it paid since last April, according to the report.
