The New York State Common Retirement Fund, one of the largest public pension funds in the U.S., generated a 2.44% investment return for its fiscal third quarter, which ended Dec. 31.
New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli on Wednesday said the fund ended the quarter with a value of $297.8 billion, up from $273.1 billion at the end of its previous fiscal year on March 31, 2025, for a return of 12.5% for the first nine months of the current fiscal year.
The fund, which has long-term expected rate of return of 5.9%, had 40% of its assets invested in publicly traded equities and about 23.3% of its portfolio invested in cash, bonds and mortgages as of Dec. 31.
