U.S. Construction Adds 33,000 Jobs Amid Data Center Rollout -- Market Talk

0930 ET - In January's jobs report, construction added 33,000 jobs, reflecting an employment gain in nonresidential speciality trade contractors, which added 25,000 jobs, according to the BLS. In 2025, employment in construction was essentially flat, the report says. While commercial real-estate construction has been poised for little growth in 2026, data center projects from large tech companies to run artificial intelligence have been a bright spot for the sector.(jessica.coacci@wsj.com; jessica_coacci)
