Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index Falls, Weighed by Bud APAC, Lenovo -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
Feb 12

0846 GMT - Hong Kong's benchmark Hang Seng Index closed 0.9% lower at 27032.54, weighed by corporate earnings. Budweiser Brewing Co. APAC and Lenovo Group ended down 5.2% and 4.6%, respectively. Beer brewer Bud APAC's net profit declined on a soft China performance, which its chief executive described as "below our potential." Lenovo's earnings beat estimates on demand driven by artificial intelligence, but the personal-computer maker's shares fell against a backdrop of surging memory-chip prices. Meanwhile, Meituan's shares finished 4.5% lower after Moody's Ratings cut its ratings outlook for the company to negative, citing rising uncertainty for its food-delivery segment's recovery path.
