Baidu (BIDU) said Tuesday it and Uber Technologies (UBER) are bringing the Apollo Go self-driving service to the Uber app in Dubai in partnership with the city's Roads and Transport Authority.
The fully autonomous cars are scheduled to begin operating in specific parts of the Jumeirah district starting next month, the company said.
Users can request these vehicles when booking standard rides or by choosing a specific self-driving category within the digital platform, Baidu said.
External operator New Horizon will manage the fleet, which is expected to expand throughout the city as regulatory approvals are granted, it said.
