Standard Chartered (HKG:2888) said Diego De Giorgi has stepped down as chief financial officer with immediate effect to pursue an external opportunity, according to a Tuesday Hong Kong bourse filing.

Standard Chartered said Peter Burrill has been appointed interim group chief financial officer, effective immediately.

Burrill is currently group head of central finance and deputy chief financial officer at the bank.

He joined Standard Chartered in 2017 and previously served as group controller and co-head of group finance at Deutsche Bank. Earlier in his career, Burrill spent nearly 20 years at KPMG, including roles in the United States and Germany, the filing said.

The bank said an announcement on the permanent appointment will be made in due course.
