Coincheck Group said Chief Executive Gary Simanson plans to resign from the company, effective March 31.

Simanson will be succeeded by Pascal St-Jean, effective April 1, the crypto exchange company said Thursday.

St-Jean has been Coincheck's chief growth officer since November, and is also the CEO of 3iQ Corp. Coincheck announced its pending acquisition of 3iQ in January.

St-Jean will lead the next phase of Coincheck's strategy, growing its institutional presence in the crypto industry and in Japan and other regions by shifting from acquisitions to partnerships with large financial institutions and funds, the company said.
