1843 ET [Dow Jones]--Upwork is seeing increased demand for AI-related freelance work, the company says. Gross-services volume, the total dollar amount of transactions facilitated by its platform, climbed more than 50% for AI-related work in the latest quarter, driven by categories such as generative AI and creative production as well as AI integration and automation, CEO Hayden Brown says during a call with analysts. The number of clients engaging in AI work also increased over 50%, with those customers' GSV exceeding average spend per client by about three times, Brown says. "While this is still a minority of the total work done in the upper marketplace, AI work is becoming more material every day and is an exciting indicator of our AI tailwind," Brown says.
