Pinterest Seen Needing to Execute on Monetization -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
Feb 14

1335 ET - Pinterest has the potential to stabilize its growth, but the company has to figure out how to get there, Baird analysts write in a note, downgrading the stock to neutral. The company is grappling with a pullback from larger advertisers, but its capacity to translate engagement to monetization is underperforming, they write. Of course, as they note, "it's harder to build a user base to Pinterest's scale than finding ways to connect advertisers to a highly motivated audience." Still, they are revising near-term expectations downward for the time being. "We remain optimistic but expect shares to be range bound until execution improves," they write. Shares slide 17%.
