Airbnb CEO Confident Industry Can Withstand AI Shifts -- Market Talk

1835 ET - Airbnb Chief Executive Brian Chesky is confident the company can withstand AI's potentially existential threat to online travel agencies. Chesky tells analysts that he thinks AI chatbots will be like Google: A way for consumers to find Airbnb while planning a trip. Airbnb's inventory and data through its host app will also be difficult for AI models to replicate or compete with, Chesky says. Even if AI companies start encroaching, Chesky says he thinks Airbnb can create a competitive AI model. "We don't need to live in a world where everyone else has to lose," he says. "I think we're going to be able to work together, and these companies will be very helpful." Shares rise 5.2% to $122 in post-market trading.(katherine.hamilton@wsj.com)
