Critica (ASX:CRI) said the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organization (ANSTO) produced an initial commercial-quality mixed rare earth carbonate at a 58% grade from the Jupiter rare earth project in Western Australia using the company's processing technology, according to a Monday Australian bourse filing.

ANSTO said that, in a commercial operating circuit, overall recovery through to mixed rare earth carbonate is expected to increase to around 89% grade of total rare earth oxides in practice due to the recovery of rare earths from an impurity removal stage.

Critica's shares climbed nearly 4% in recent trading on Monday.
